These are mostly culled from web-searching the usual places, suggestions from other Embos' fans, and misc. adds.
If you know of any Big Dipper, Del Fuegos, or related sites, please let me know so I can cross-link.
There was an article on the on-line zine Perfect Sound Forever by Billy Bob Hargus that may still be active here: http://www.furious.com/perfect/embarrassment.html. Follow the links around for some fellow travelers.
The Embos have a partial presence on the web, mostly due to record label connections. Some of this info. is duplicated below in the "Record Labels" section.
The current home of what Embos titles are available is
Bar/None Records; you can order God Help Us and Heyday through this site, which is pretty good, and the folks at Bar/None have been extremely helpful in obtaining information for this site. We are also cross-linked there.
Also at the Bar/None site is
http://www.bar-none.com/bios/embarbio.html
The Embarrassment Bar/None Bio! Includes a short discography and some rumour-ware from late 1995.
At the Homestead Records site is
http://www.w2.com/docs2/d5/hum.html
The Human Music Compilation page on the Homestead Records' site; this is still in print and you can still order it in CD format. On the site is
http://www.w2.com/docs2/d5/hum20.au
a 20-second clip in .AU format of "Two-Week Vacation" on the Homestead site. This is from the 1980 Skeel sessions.
(There are also some Big Dipper sound clips there.)
There used to be a brief Embos' biography on this site, but it's apparently "lost" in the poor organization of this site and not linked anywhere I can find.
Big Dipper
I can't find a Big Dipper site, but here's the start of some information,
culled from my collection and the Dutch East India site
-- although apparently none of these titles are in print:
BIG DIPPER ALL GOING OUT TOGETHER 12 HMS097-1
BIG DIPPER BOO BOO LP HMS077
BIG DIPPER BOO BOO CA HMS077C
BIG DIPPER CRAPS CA HMS122-4
BIG DIPPER CRAPS LP HMS122-1
BIG DIPPER CRAPS CD HMS122-2
BIG DIPPER HEAVENS CA HMS086C
BIG DIPPER HEAVENS LP HMS086
Plus of course Slam which I guess was on A&M (?); I also know of
the "Impossible Things" CD5, and the "Meet the Witch" 12". I am not a Big
Dipper collector, so somebody else is going to have to help me out here
in getting this part running.Del Fuegos
I also can't find a Del Fuegos site (Woody/Brent's post-Embos band).

Bar/None records has a pointer back this-a-way:
We're listed in Yahoo...
http://www.yahoo.com/Entertainment/Music/Artists/White_Pages/wp_69.html
WMBR is the MIT radio station, with which I once had a slight association, but which was and is an outstanding Indie alternative. Their band list includes the Embos:
http://wmbr.mit.edu/bandlist/e.html
The Late-Riser's Club at WMBR best of 1980-1995 includes the Embos:
http://turntable.mit.edu/lrc.15years.html
And another stalwart of WMBR, the Breakfast of Champions, has the Embos listed:
http://turntable.mit.edu/boc.bwl.html
Heyday made the #1 slot on WMBR's January, 1996 playlist, perhaps thanks to superfan Jon Bernhardt:
http://turntable.mit.edu/playlist/play0196.html
I don't know anything about this site other than that the Embos are cross-listed:
http://www.thecut.com/pages/is65.html
Jen's list of cool bands:
http://www.nstop.com/nonstop/hot/music.html
Yet another list of bands from an ISP:
http://www.clark.net/pub/rt/fanpages.html
Mike "Blur" Wahweotten has a really odd, personal, eccentric but interesting history of punk in Lawrence that includes references to the Embos and links to a couple of Embos' flyers. The entry point is here, and the links page is here.
(The flyers are best accessed from the timeline page. - mw)

Homestead records seems to have two sites -- first, an otherwise information-free list of records formerly distributed by Dutch East India:
http://www.dutch-east.com/homestea.html
And there's also a pretty poor website administered by a third party at:
http://www.w2.com/docs2/d5/homestead.html
which is hard to navigate, but Homestead not only has a couple of the odd Big Dipper titles (none in print, again, apparently) but a bunch of other good bands, fer sure.
Also at the Homestead site is

Fresh Sounds doesn't seem to have a web site, but they do have an email address:
As far as I know, they have no Embarrassment tunes in their current catalog.
Sub/POP, the first publisher (other than the band themselves) of the Embos, is of course probably the best known of any of these labels and has a fearsome line-up of artists at:
The original tapes featuring the Embos aren't listed and are unavailable as far as I know, although of course these recordings are now available on Heyday.
Bomp! Records arguably gave the Embos their first wide release, and still put things out, small as ever and still obscure. They have a web site on the indie-web at
And they have a file with their catalog in it at
http://www.indieweb.com/bomp/bomp_catalog.txt
There's no indication the Battle of the Garage Bands compilations are still available, though.
There's also a funky interview with the founder of Bomp at
http://www.greatgig.com/cosmicdebris/december/label07.html
which, while not directly related, is fun to read.
Kris Gillespie, who collaborated on the release of Heyday works for
http://www.matador.recs.com/index.html
Matador Records, also a pretty cool label with some good bands.
Although the connection is tenuous, I will also list
Rounder Records in Cambridge, which was literally down the street from where I used to live, and apparently has some old Embos fans working for them now.
While I'm not going to get into the strenuous game of trying to maintain a list of cool bands and/or labels, the Indie Web
...deserves a link for general support of independent music labels.
First off is
http://www.Interedge.com/Micronotz.html
The Micronotz home page.
There is also
http://www.tyrell.net/~nortonj/icono.html The Micronotz (aka Mortal Micronotz) tribute page, which includes information about the Micronotz tribute album (of all things).
Of some passing interest is
http://www.tyrell.net/~nortonj/scene.html
...a related link to the Lawrence music scene (as it is today, apparently.)
